It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bessie Mae Miles, who left us on February 16, 2025. Bessie was one of 13 children born to James and Ruth Miller. She was born in Baileyton, TN, on July 10, 1939. Bessie worked for the Brown family in her youth and later for  Eastman. She moved to NY, where she met her husband, James Miles.

In NY, she worked as a dietician for Yonkers General Hospital and retired after working for a nursing home. She loved to sing and was a member of the Down Home Choir at Community Baptist Church in Yonkers, NY. After retiring, she volunteered at St. John's Riverside Hospital.

Bessie will always be remembered for her joking spirit, laughter, and love for her family.

Bessie is preceded in death by her parents, James and Ruth Miller; sisters, Shirley Gudger, Letha Miller, Coralee Roderick, Margaret Anderson, and Linda Miller; and brothers, William Miller, Bobby Miller, James Miller Jr., and Archie Miller.

Bessie leaves behind her husband, James Miles; stepsons, Malcolm Miles and Michael Lee; sister, Nancy Jones; brothers, David (Ruth) Miller and Grover (Janet) Miller; close friends, Maebell Boney, Mary Jane Treece, Martha Jackson, Raymond and Donna Bowers, and Carol Masterson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Bessie will be profoundly missed. As we navigate this profound loss, we find comfort in remembering the lives she touched, the love she shared, and the legacy of kindness she leaves behind.
