Carl "Sam" Evans, 68, of Kingsport, TN, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2022.

Sam was born in Johnson City, TN, on September 16, 1953, to Mary Alice and the late Samuel Evans. Sam was a 1971 Science Hill graduate where he played football and ran track. Sam worked for Eastman Chemical Company as a pipe fitter/mechanic and was a dedicated employee for more than thirty years. Shortly after he retired from Eastman, he began working for Partner's, where he had been employed for the last 17 years.

Sam was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Evans, and dad, John Whiteside.

Sam is survived by his loving wife, Mary Helen Evans of Kingsport, TN; mother, Mary Alice Whiteside of Johnson City, TN; two daughters, Zenia (Lloyd "Duke") Bratton of Atlanta, GA, and Kela (Ali) Mohamed of Kingsport, TN; four sisters, Sharon (Michael) Redd, Edith Tajeda, Johnetta (Van) Williams, and Tasha (Mark) Redd all of Johnson City, TN; sister-in-law, Margaret (William "Kelso") Isom of Kingsport, TN; two grandsons, Azis Dunn of Kingsport, TN and Kole Bratton of Atlanta, GA; one granddaughter, Zuhura Mohamed of Kingsport, TN; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Carl Evans will be conducted Thursday, June 23, 2022, at 1:30 pm from Grace Temple Church, 208 Garden Dr. Johnson City, TN. Elder Mark Redd, officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until the hour of service. Interment will follow the funeral service at Washington County Memory Gardens in Johnson City.
