Dana Lynn Skaggs was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, January 26, 2025. She was born August 29, 1955, in Wise County, Virginia. Growing up, we all called her Donnie (not Donna) until she looked at her birth certificate, and it was Dona. At that point, she decided to change her name to Dana.

She was the oldest of four children, but due to unfortunate circumstances, she became the matriarch of her family at an early age, raising her son, daughter, and her brother and sister. While raising her family and living in Detroit, she was determined to get her GED! So determined, she took three buses to work and school to make that happen, and she did! By doing so, she instilled in her children and siblings an excellent work ethic.

Dana loved talking to people and she never met a stranger. This was evident in her different jobs, always working with the public, mainly in the food industry. She loved collecting costume jewelry and had plenty on display. Her favorite food to fix and eat was pork chops, fried potatoes, and onions. When Dana returned to Tennessee, she joined Central Baptist Church, and with her bubbly personality, she became an Usher and greeted everyone with a smile. She became a daughter of the BPOE Dunbar Temple #344. Dana held many offices during her time as a faithful daughter. She was The esteemed past state president for the Tennessee State Association, Antler Guard, secretary for the Myrtle Spears Council, and the Dunbar Temple #344. She was a Songbird for the Tennessee State Association and the Grand Temple. Secretary for the Tennessee State Association, Daughter State President, and Daughter Ruler of Dunbar Temple #344 until her health declined.

Dana was preceded in death by her mother, Nora Lee Skaggs; sister, Gwendolyn Bobbette Skaggs;  grandson, Xavier Skaggs; grandparents, Oscar & Mary Skaggs; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Jimmy (Staci) Nash; daughter, Jereka Skaggs; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Serena Skaggs; brother, Robert (Jacqueline) Turner; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends!
