Dr. Frank Henry Robinson, Sr., M.D. passed away April 20, 2025 in Bordighera, Italy, surrounded by his loving family. Frank began his life's journey in Bristol, TN on October 23, 1942. He is predeceased by his endearing parents, Patrick Henry Robinson Jr., known as "P.H.," and Bettie Lacy Robinson, who left a legacy of service in the Tri-cities communities as the former owners of Robinson Mortuary and co-owners of Robinson Funeral Services, Inc.

While growing up in Bristol, he was a member of Lee St. Baptist Church, a boy scout, and member of the little league baseball team. Frank demonstrated exceptional academic prowess, graduating as valedictorian from Slater High School in 1960. He secured a full college scholarship to attend Fisk University in Nashville, TN where he also achieved honors and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1964. While at Fisk, he became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He was instrumental in breaking barriers as one of the few African Americans admitted to the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis, TN, graduating with honors in 1968, showcasing his dedication and resilience in the face of adversity in the medical field during that era.

After completing his medical education, he served a notable stint as a Captain in the U.S. Army's medical unit in Germany for three years during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged from the military, he returned to civilian life as a physician in California, where he established a thriving medical practice. Frank's dedication to the medical field and his commitment to forming strong connections with his patients reflect a compassionate approach to healthcare. His pride in his profession and efforts to ease his patients' minds not only highlight his expertise as a physician but also underscore the importance of empathy and trust in the doctor-patient relationship. Such qualities surely left a lasting impact on those he cared for, and an inspiring legacy for future generations in the field of medicine.

Frank's life embodies a rich tapestry of experiences. After retiring from his medical practice in 1987, he moved to Bordighera, Italy, and became a member of The Travelers' Century Club, an international organization for travelers who have visited one hundred or more of the world's 330 countries and territories. Frank's remarkable achievement of visiting all the countries and territories is a testament to his adventurous spirit and passion for travel. His many journeys and ability to become fluent in Italian, German, and Spanish not only showcase his personal accomplishments but also serve as an inspiration for others to broaden their horizons through travel. In addition to traveling, he loved attending live opera performances and enjoyed playing the cello, lute, and piano.

He is preceded in death by his beloved brother-in-law, Dr. Antar I. Smith. He is survived by his three beloved and devoted sisters: Dr. Maisah "Patricia" Robinson-Smith, Dr. Ida Robinson-Backmon (Eugene), and Ms. Bettina A. Robinson, who treasured their bond and shared countless memories together.

He leaves behind his loving and cherished children: Frank H. Robinson, Jr.; Patrick (Virginia) Robinson; Deborah (Jim) Alexson; Della (Dexter) Jenkins; Eric Robinson; and Micah (Greg) DeLoy, and grandchildren: Kalyn Robinson, Najwa Robinson, Jessica Robinson, Brent Robinson, Wyeth Robinson, Kai Robinson, Bryce Williams, Beck Williams, Bianca Jenkins, Dominick Jenkins, Dominic Robinson, Kayla Robinson, Jordan DeLoy, and numerous loving cousins. His family members will undoubtedly carry forward his legacy, values, and memories, ensuring that his influence continues to resonate within their lives and the lives of those around them.

He is also survived by many friends, including Carla Biancotti and Gian Franco, who were with him through thick and thin, providing unwavering support and companionship.

Fank's genuine dedication to supporting others shone through in every aspect of his life, creating deep connections and fostering an environment of compassion and care. May God give him eternal peace, and may his life serve as a beacon of inspiration for others to embrace the values and passions he exemplified.

A celebration of life service will be held in Bordighera, Italy.
