Rev. Fred A. Matthews, age 72, of Morristown, formerly of Church Hill, and Bristol, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at his home. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Morristown. He retired after 35 years from Tennessee Eastman in Kingsport as a Chemical Engineer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Hazel Matthews; and his brother, John Matthews. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Pat Matthews; children, Allan (Billie) Wells, Denia (Ivan) Russell, Kimberly Blevins, and Kelia (Jarod) West; grandchildren, Amy Wells, Allan Wells III, Alishia Wells, Justin Delapp, and Tabitha Blevins; four great-grandchildren, Alena Reeves, Kelon Rodriguez, Chanell Davis, and Aubrey Wells; brothers and sisters, Betty Ervin, Robert Matthews, Roy Matthews, Linda Sensabaugh, and Brenda (Jim) Pendleton, along with several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Private services are scheduled.
