Gloria Ann
Coleman
Apr 3, 1942 — Jun 14, 2024
Gloria Ann Coleman, 82 years old, of Glade Springs, Virginia, passed away peacefully and valiantly, with her family by her side, on Friday, June 14, 2024, at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Virginia.
Gloria, lovingly known as Nanna and Nanny, was born on April 3, 1942, in Newport News, Virginia, and is a graduate of George Washington Carver High School. Gloria worked until retirement at the Eastern State Hospital in Williamsburg, Virginia, as a DSA orderly.
Gloria served many roles on this earth but cherished her roles as wife, mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. An avid decorator of many projects and her home, Gloria thoroughly enjoyed planting flowers, shopping, traveling, and watching the achievements of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As a member of Fairview Baptist Church, Gloria also enjoyed singing in the choir through the years and, in the latter part, serving in fellowship as a church usher. She always had a strong faith in her Lord and Savior when the time came to call her home.
Gloria was preceded in death by her mother, Naomi Toliver Roane, and siblings, Richard McMillan and Helen Henry.
Gloria is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Daryl Coleman, along with her children, Kenneth Haskins with wife Janice, Latrice Haskins Bushnell with husband Timothy, and stepdaughter Tierra Coleman; siblings, Joan Vaden with husband Charles Jr., Karen Buford, and Andrea Roane; grandsons, Nathaniel Christian III, with wife Samantha, and Christopher Haskins; granddaughter, Timia Haskins. Gloria had six special great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; sisters-in-law Cheryl Coleman and Lisa Coleman; and special friends Maria and Phil Norman.
The family would like to thank the tremendously kind doctors and nurses at the Johnston Memorial Hospital for their excellent care and consideration for Gloria's well-being and treatment in her final days.
