Ireta Carroll Taylor Dawson, age 103, of Bristol, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024. She was born in Asheville, N.C., on August 29, 1920, the only child of the late Katie Carson Blackburn and the late Louis David Taylor.

She was a faithful member of John Wesley United Methodist Church, Bristol, VA for 71 years and taught in the Bristol Virginia Public Schools for 36 years at Douglass High School, Virginia High School, and Washington-Lee Elementary School.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 63 years George E Dawson. To cherish her memory she leaves two daughters, Carroll (LeeVon) Allen and Georgia (Ron) Carmichael; two grandchildren, George (Nakeshia) Allen and Katie Allen; one great grandson Noah Allen; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends including very special friends Millie Saunders, John and Drucilla Hogans, Brazil Dukes, Marvin and Sue Beidleman, Theresa Burriss, Dewey, and Kelli Spiva, and LeAnn Rose.
