James A. Henderson Jr., affectionately known as "Jr.," born January 8, 1961, passed away on October 10, 2024, at age 63.

Jr. was born and raised in Kingsport. He graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 1979 and proudly served in the United States Army. After his military service, Jr. returned to Tennessee and eventually to his hometown of Kingsport where he lived out his remaining days. Jr. loved animals.

His first pet as a child, a dog named Spade, was his best friend. As an adult, he was known for taking in stray dogs and cats and giving them a home.

Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, Cecilia and James Henderson, Sr., and his nephew, Justin Machen.

He is survived by his siblings: twin brother Thomas Henderson of California, Audrey Henderson of Illinois, Karen (Jerry) Machen of Tennessee, and Milicent (Eric) Mack of Georgia; along with three nephews, one niece, and several great-nephews and nieces. He also leaves behind numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 11 am at Clark Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service, Kingsport, Tennessee.
