James Rowlett Randolph was born in Bristol, VA, on December 14, 1931 to the late Augustus and Elizabeth Randolph. He departed this life on October 15, 2021, at Elmcroft of Bristol.James graduated from Morristown College and Tennessee A & I State University. He served in the U.S. Army before working for many years in social services for the City of New York.When describing James, generous is the first word that comes to mind. He freely gave his time and money to those in need by regularly donating to various organizations and causes. Family was very important to him and we were truly blessed to be lifelong beneficiaries of his kindness and generosity.He was preceded in death by his brother, Andrew Randolph; sisters, Mary Redmon and Charlotte Fulp; niece, Wanda Williams; and nephew, William Fulp II.He is survived by his nephews, Victor Fulp and Jerry Fulp of Asheville, NC, James Redmon of Columbus, GA, and Rodney Randolph of Mesa, AZ; nieces, Gwendolyn Thrasher and Jean Johnson of Asheville, NC, Rita Fulp of Knoxville, TN and Linda Alexander of Gahanna, OH; and a host of great-nieces and nephews.Graveside services for Mr. James Randolph will be conducted Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at 1 pm from Forest Hill Cemetery, Abingdon, VA.
