With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jeffrey Bernard Eury, lovingly known as "Bodeen," "Jeffro," and "Cheddar Cheese," who made his final earthly transition on Friday, December 20, 2024, at his home.

Jeff was born on October 29, 1960, to Thomas L. and Mary A. Eury in Bristol, Virginia. From a young age, his natural talent and vibrant spirit set him apart. He was an exceptional athlete during his time at Tennessee High School, excelling in both football and track. His athletic achievements were remarkable, with one of his proudest accomplishments being a 400-meter track record that remains unbroken to this day.

Jeff continued his football journey at Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, Tennessee, where he pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design. His passion for learning led him to earn a second degree from King University, a Bachelor of Information Technology, solidifying his dedication to personal growth and excellence.

Throughout his life, Jeff found fulfillment in his work and the connections he made. He worked with Cokesbury in Nashville, Tennessee, and later returned to Bristol, where he joined the Bristol Herald Courier. At the time of his passing, Jeff shared his knowledge and kindness as a substitute teacher within the Virginia school system. Outside of work, he had a passion for drawing, especially Superman.

Jeff's life was a testament to perseverance, kindness, and an unyielding love for family and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Thomas and Mary Eury, and his sister, Virginia Valdespino.

To cherish his memory, Jeff leaves behind his devoted siblings: Debra Eury of Kingsport, TN; Anna Eury of Bristol, TN; Thomas (Camilla) Eury of Bristol, VA; Jonathan Eury of Avon Park, FL; and Juanita Watkins of Bristol, TN. His legacy also lives on through several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nephews, along with countless relatives and dear friends who were blessed to know him.

Jeff's warmth, athleticism, and unwavering love for his family and community will forever be remembered. Though his earthly journey has ended, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to John Wesley United Methodist Church in Bristol, Virginia.
