Obituary

Mr. Mack A. Dawson was born on December 12, 1953, to Annie and Alexander Dawson in Union Springs, Alabama.


He confessed Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Azure Baptist Church. He graduated from Union Springs School and later enlisted in the United States Army. After working various jobs, Mack moved to Tennessee, where he was employed by Eastman Chemical Company and Exide until his retirement. He became a member of New Hope Baptist Church and served in the Men's Choir. He enjoyed all sports and often refereed games for people of all ages.


He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charlie and Susie Cooper; parents, Alexander and Annie Griffin; and three brothers, Oscar Dawson, Larry Dawson, and Lopel Griffin Jr.


To cherish his memory, Mack leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Edith M. Dawson; four sons, Jayson Scott, Mack Dawson, Davon'te Dawson, and Sidney (Jess) Mitchell; two grandchildren, Sacred Dawson and Desire Dawson; four sisters, Mable (Johnny) Peebles, of Columbus, Georgia, Mattie Houston, of Montgomery, Alabama, Patricia Dawson of Columbus, Georgia, and Elizabeth Dawson, of Columbus, Georgia; three brothers, Millard (Brenda) Dawson, of Pike Road, Alabama, Germany (Claudia) Dawson, of Jacksonville, Florida, and Rev. Dr. Bailey (Shirley) Dawson, of Valley Grande, Alabama; two uncles, Joe (Bernice) Cooper, of Birmingham, Alabama and Theodas Cooper, of Kingsport, Tennessee; his beloved dog, Cooper; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
