Martha departed this life on April 28, 2025, at Bristol Regional Medical Center after a short illness, surrounded by loved ones. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Jimmie Lou Clark, her brother, Jerry Whitten, and sister, Mary Hayes.

Martha was born on September 4, 1961, in New York, New York and she attended Abingdon High School. Those who knew Martha knew that she was a caretaker at heart. She was always trying to take care of someone. Her favorite ways to love were cooking meals, buying gifts, cleaning,
and making homemade gifts to give. Martha had a unique way of making an impression; she left a mark wherever she went. She was not afraid to speak her mind, and she was loyal to her family and friends. She possessed a sharp wit about herself and fiercely loved those closest to her.

Left to cherish Martha's memory are her loving daughter, Tonya Coleman (Kelvin) of Bristol, TN; her four grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, Jacquelyn, Lauren, Kelvin, Jr., and Jesslyn Coleman; her brother, Melvin Clark (Cynthia) of Abingdon, VA; her two sisters, Sheila Jordan (Edward) of Abingdon, VA, and Norma Conyers (Donald) of Arlington, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
