Maurice Chavaya Forney departed this life on Friday, May 29, 2026. He was born on March 21, 1966, in Abingdon, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Forney, and his stepmother, Marcella Forney.

To cherish his memory, Maurice leaves behind his mother, Elizabeth (John) Strothers; wife, Tabitha Forney; brothers, Anthony Forney of Johnson City, Tennessee, Edward Forney of Norfolk, Virginia, and Russell (Michelle) Swanson of Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania; sisters, Sonya Forney of Norfolk, Virginia and Erica (Jimmy) Bowman; his good buddies, Anthony Neal Forney and Paul Davis; aunts and uncles, Stella Bachman, Gladys Forney, William D. Forney, and Leonard Forney; children, Douglas Johnson, Danielle Johnson, and Arnold "AJ" Hart; and several grandchildren, neices, nephews, cousins, and friends.
