Michael Lee Burks was born February 24, 1956 in Bluefield, West Virginia. At an early age his parents moved too Brooklyn, New York, where he received his education. He later migrated to Bristol, Virginia where he remained for more than twenty-five years. He dedicated his life to the Lord and received his Baptism at New Hope Baptist Church.

He enjoyed looking dapper and greeting you with a big smile. He was always willing to be helpful anyway he could. He was very observing of those who befriended him. The life he chose was doing things that made him happy, like making others laugh, being a prankster, and sharing with people in need.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, William and Lorraine Burks; four brothers, Bobby, Ronnie, Robert, and James; one sister, Helen; one grandson, Tyquan Holmes; and one granddaughter, Li'nayjah.

Michael leaves to mourn his wife, Adell Jones; children, Michael Lee (Trenda) Curry, Aisha Curry, Tatiana Curry, and Latoya Curry; grandchildren, Michael, Mitrend, Kareema, Jeraka, Antonio, Dasmine, Kiana, and Keontre; great-grandchildren, Michael, Genesis, Jeraka, Nathaniel, Calvin, Joseph, and Angel; seven siblings, William, Deryl, Mable, Teronia, Perry, Carolyn, and Velma; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He will be sorely missed by all.
