Michael R. Payne was born April 6, 1959, in Lynchburg, Virginia, and made his transition to his heavenly Father on June 11, 2020. Michael graduated from Campbell County High School in Lynchburg, Virginia. After graduation, he worked with his grandfather on his farm until he launched out on his own and was self- employed as a general contractor and handyman.Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard E. Taylor Sr. and Marquerite Gravely, and his brothers, Leon Payne, Thomas Taylor, and Derrick Gravely.Michael is survived by his wife, Darlene Payne of Bristol, Tennessee; brothers, Stafford Gravely, Bernard E. Taylor Jr., Oliver Gravely, and Jermaine Robinson; sisters, Gail Gravely, Saundra Gravely, and Delilah Bradley; daughter, Kamilya Brown Coleman; son, Michael R. Payne Jr.; grandchildren, De'Marion Brown, Karma Jones, and K'hlani Coleman; aunts, Sallie Boyd and Kathrine Austin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.Michael brought joy to everyone that he met. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed and in our hearts always.
