Mother Dallas
Mae Watterson
Feb 23, 1930 — Aug 8, 2025
A beloved matriarch passed peacefully on August 8, 2025, at the age of 95.
Mother Dallas was born in 1930, a time when women's roles were often confined to the home. Yet, she possessed an independent spirit and pursued many entrepreneurial endeavors to ensure the well-being of her children. Mother Dallas was a pillar in the community and loved her church, Central Baptist Church. She served her leaders and could often be found working in the kitchen. Her home was a gathering place, filled with laughter and lively conversation. Mother loved strawberry pie and watermelon and often reminded her family that she was "Blessed."
Dallas' remarkable life will forever be a testament to the power of courage, hard work, and the enduring love of family.
She was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Linda Blye.
She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, JoAnne Fugate; three sisters, Janie Goodwin, Lois Blye, and Judy Phillips; three grandchildren, Sean White, Stacy White, and Clinton (Kayla) Fugate; nine great-grandchildren, Tryson White, Drew White, Tyrek White, Totiana White, Isiah White, Camilia White, Braylon Fugate, Cassius Fugate, and Latavius Fugate; goddaughters, Denise Morrison and Anita Garay; godgranddaughter; Taishawna Davis; special friends, Betty Long, Sandra Pierce, and Linda Kincaid; and a host of nieces and church and family members; all of whom will carry on her legacy of strength, kindness, and determination.
Mother Dallas fought a good fight, finished her course, kept the faith, and now is laid up for her a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give. Rest now and receive your reward. We love you, but God loves you best!
