Della Marie Johnson, also known as “Della Reese,” departed this life on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. She was born on April 28, 1958, to George “Buddy” Reddix and Evelyn Marie Hughes.

She was preceded in death by her father, George Reddix; her mother, Evelyn Marie Hughes; her grandparents, James and Drucilla Hatcher; her son, Ira “Clayton” Johnson; aunts, Lily C. Hatcher, Alma Scott, Hansel Hatcher, and Anne Black; and uncle, James Hatcher.

She leaves behind her son, Preston Johnson; grandchildren, Mikaela Johnson, Kymani Johnson, Juelle Johnson, Laekyn Johnson, King Johnson, Chevy Johnson, Evelyn Johnson, and Farrah Johnson; siblings, Kim Mobley, Terri Reddix, and Cynthia Solomon; aunt, Laura Joann Tabor; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
