Obituary

Pauline Wilson Ewing was born June 6, 1930, to Lonnie and Zora Mize Wilson in Morristown, Tennessee. The family moved to Stonega, Virginia, where she attended school. Later, she met the love of her life, Lawrence "Pete" Ewing. They had seven children together. Before his death in April 2000, they were married for 52 years.

Pauline was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church for 47 years, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and led the food ministry. She became a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in 1996, where she continued her love for Christ and her spiritual growth.

She is preceded in death by a daughter, Ella Mae Ewing Simmons; son, Paul D. Ewing; her husband, Lawrence "Pete" Ewing; three grandsons; her parents; four brothers; and four sisters.

Pauline is survived by her daughter, who was also her caregiver, Brenda Ewing Carpenter; four sons, Lawrence Jr. (Jackie), Charles (Noli), John (Annie), and Roy (Stevie); 18 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Rose Darnell of Cleveland, Ohio; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pauline left her earthly home surrounded by family on Monday, November 27, 2023. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her, but we are comforted in knowing she walks with the Lord as one of his angels.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Shiloh Baptist Church Building Fund.
