Regina Helen Taylor Goins, also known as Jean, aka Bones, Moms, and Susie Q, departed from this world on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at the age of 74 years old.

Jean was born on March 30, 1950, to the original Dusty Fred "Jiggs" Taylor and Mary Duffield Taylor, in Elizabethton, Tennessee. She was one of seven siblings and would often say she was the meanest one in the bunch. Jean graduated from Elizabethton High School, Elizabethton, TN. She fell in love with the boy whom she would spend the rest of her life with. If you asked, she would tell you, she married him on a dare from her mother, we all know she loved that man. Paul and Jean were married for 56 years and had a love that could not be broken. She worked at Raytheon for several years until they closed, she then went to work at Sears until she retired.

Jean was a loving mother of 3 children, Kim, Casey, and Marcus. She had a soft spot for those in need or anyone who was lonely. Her love spread as she and Paul were foster parents, their home was opened to several foster children over the years.

During her retirement, she loved spending the summers with her granddaughters, Hallea and Kara, shopping, singing, visiting friends and family, and allowing them to stick their heads out the sunroof of her Volkswagen Beetle. Her singing and contagious smile along with her encouraging words would lift and brighten anyone's mood.

Jean, loved God, she would say her best friend were "The Man Upstairs and then Paul." Phillippi Baptist Church, Elizabethton, TN as she referred, was where she grew up in and was considered to her as her home church. Along with visiting churches in the community throughout the years.

The last few months of Jean's life were a challenge, as the ugly grip of dementia and pancreatic cancer took its toll on her body, but not her outgoing spirit. As Jean's health was fading, her family rallied around her to fill her life with joy and companionship. One by one the beautiful memories of a beautiful life flickered and dimmed. But she continued to cherish the warm embrace of friends and to find comfort whenever surrounded by conversation and laughter. She never stopped absorbing the love around her.

Jean is preceded by her parents Fred "Jiggs" and Mary Duffield Taylor, sister Barbara Ann Odem, brother Earl Fred Taylor, and a dear family friend Mary Sturgill.

She leaves behind her husband, Paul Goins; daughter, Kim Goins Ross; sons, Casey and Marcus Goins; granddaughters, Hallea and Kara Ross; sister, Freda Taylor Wilson; brothers, James (Doris) Taylor, John (Theressa) Taylor, Sidney Taylor; several cousins, nieces, nephews; and special friends/family including the Sturgill family (Sis and Callie), Hicks Family (Perry, Becky, Shana, and Shepherd), Barbara Lewis, and Tanya Gray.

Jean will be fondly remembered for her contagious smile, genuine heart, and the way she effortlessly brought joy to wherever she went. Her ability to connect with others on a deep level was a blessing that created lasting friendships and touched countless lives and hearts. Jean's love transformed the lives of everyone she encountered. She brought a bounty of joy with everything she did… with her singing… her cooking… her smile, and her unbounded love. She had a remarkable ability to connect with people, share herself, and evoke the same spirit of love in each person she knew
