Ms. Sandra Underwood Wilmer, 75, departed this life Wednesday, March 11, 2020.

Sandra was a native of Kingsport making her home in Church Hill, TN. She was a graduate of Douglas High School and went to Morgan State College in Baltimore, MD. She worked at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Springs, MD. She retired at Holston Defense Corporation as a laboratory analyst.

She was a strong, wonderful, dedicated mother and grandmother and our best friend always putting others before herself. She loved the Lord and was very active in the church. She was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church. She belonged to the Bethel Choir, she was the president of the Trustee Board, and was the Sunday School treasurer. She was the treasurer of Douglas High Sons & Daughters Alumni Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen Underwood Fain and Loffiete Underwood; stepfather, Charles Fain; sisters, Lillian Leeper and Bonney Jean Abbott; brothers, Barney Underwood and Reggie Underwood.

To cherish her memory Sandra leaves behind her three children, Shonta Dixon Bell, Sonya Jarrett, and Lawrence Wilmer; seven grandchildren, Jeremiah Jarrett, Curtesea Dixon, Cornell Dixon, Carlton Dixon, Evan Wilmer, Cory Dixon, and Raven Bell; special friends, Mr. Jack Watkins and Mrs. Candy Smith; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Services for Ms. Wilmer will be conducted Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 12 pm from Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church. The family will receive friends from 11 am until the time of service.
