Obituary

Staff Sergeant Henry Lee Stewart, 70, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2023, in Bristol, Tennessee. Henry was a decorated veteran who served in the Vietnam War and 20 years as a member of the United States Army.

SSgt. Stewart was born on October 8, 1952, in Huntsville, Alabama to Ervin Garner & Jessie Mae Holloway. In September 1967, Henry was baptized at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Huntsville, Alabama. He obtained his formal education in Huntsville, Alabama, and made the decision to join the military at 18 years of age.

Henry was a traveler and loved to be on the open road. He loved to fish, music, and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. He was also a true comedian and could make a friend anywhere he went.

SSgt. Stewart was preceded in death by his parents Ervin Garner and Jessie Mae Holloway, 2 aunts, and 4 uncles.

"Stu" as he was affectionately known, leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Carrie Stewart; 4 loving children, Angela Stone (Otis) of Beaumont, Texas, Cindy Williams (Christopher) of Huntsville, Alabama, Terrelle Stewart of South Chesterfield, Virginia, and Henry Lee Stewart Jr. (Kimisha) of Petersburg, Virginia; 12 grandchildren, Rayven Jefferson, Kristopher Jefferson, Jordan Morris, Xavier Morris, Destiny Jefferson, Dynasty Hamilton (Ryan), Christopher Williams, Tekarah Santiago (Ramon), Jaylin Stewart, Azariah Stewart, Yahmirra Marshall, and Mariah Dozier; 17 great-grandchildren; and one loving and devoted sister Lillie Mae Vincent (Malichi) of Huntsville, Alabama. Also left to remember him are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends, especially Torrance "Mack" Jones, Sr., his friend for more than 40 years.
